About
Founded in 1997 by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph as a DVD-by-mail service, Netflix pivoted to streaming in 2007 and to original programming with House of Cards in 2013. It grew into the world's largest subscription streaming service with over 300 million members, and in 2023 Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters became co-CEOs with Hastings moving to executive chairman (he is stepping off the board in 2026).
Position in GenMedia
Netflix is among the most aggressive streamers in applying generative AI to production: its 2025 series El Eternauta featured the company's first gen-AI final footage, completed roughly 10x faster than traditional VFX, and by its Q2 2026 earnings the company disclosed that roughly 300 programs had used gen AI in production that year — from concept and pre-visualization to post-production — citing 'Glory,' 'Brasil 70: A Saga do Tri,' and 'The American Experiment' (17 minutes of AI-enhanced footage made twice as fast at half the cost). In October 2025 it unified Scanline VFX and Eyeline Studios under the single 'Eyeline' brand, whose Eyeline Labs research arm publishes generative-AI filmmaking research; in March 2026 it acquired the Ben Affleck-founded InterPositive to give filmmakers AI tools across film and TV production. Co-CEO Ted Sarandos frames gen AI as a creator tool, not a replacement: 'It takes great artists to make something great, and AI is not changing that.' On the talent side, Chief Product and Technology Officer Elizabeth Stone said in a July 2026 Lenny's Podcast interview that Netflix is hiring more 'systems thinkers' over narrow specialists — infrastructure engineers building paved paths and guardrails for a future where 'so many agents' contribute work, and designers building design systems that let non-designers ship coherent product — has added an 'AI fluency' expectation across every role and interview (candidates may use AI in coding interviews), and still hires interns and new grads while insisting humans remain accountable for the craft and quality of anything AI produces.
What they're hiring
13 roles spanning generative production workflows, creative-tech research, GenAI for games, inference engineering, AI-assisted artwork, a Product Manager for the Netflix Artist Experience ($440k–$725k), and a Senior Product Designer for AI Enablement on the Ads side ($350k–$520k). The newest — Member of Technical Staff, Agentic Systems for Games at $600k–$1.066M — is the highest-paying posting in the dataset, a builder-PM hybrid shipping production agentic systems and MCPs across its game studios.
